My name is Christina Chambers and I am the Station Services intern at PBS this summer. I grew up watching PBS Kids and have always been passionate about honest and intriguing media. This past spring, I interned at the affiliate station, WPSU, so my supervisor recommended I apply for the Station Services position at the PBS headquarters to further my understanding of public media.
My biggest projects for the first few weeks of the internship included analyzing and compiling both quantitative and qualitative responses from attendees of the PBS 2018 Annual Meeting and working through creating a professional development database for member stations. Writing the summary of the Annual Meeting helped me to understand what PBS means to the station employees, as well as what they value most. I eventually tailored this information to choose certain professional development opportunities out of thousands of university certificates and networking events. In the future weeks of my internship, I’m most excited to learn about the different relationships PBS has with all of its stations and the various services and opportunities it can provide them to make their lives easier.
